Vale Industries, Inc. : Upenders/Downenders

The Upending machines are custom designed to suit the particular application for which they are intended, so if you have some special requirement please don't hesitate to ask us. Some Upenders are equipped with the ability to turn to allow the wire to be fed directly from the Upender into the processing line

  1. The photos below show an upender with a center mandrel. It was deigned to upend a coil of loose wire without a carrier and unbanded. Note the slot on the top of the table and the cutout on the mandrel, this is so the boom on a fork truck can lift the coil off of the upender.

  1. The machine below was designed for a coil of copper wire on a reel that was upended onto a pallet. The v-bed supported the coil and a slot is available to insert the pallet.

  1. The upender below is for a removable tubular carrier. The carrier is clamped on the base.

  1. The unit below is for a carrier loaded/unloaded by a boom truck and lifted into a heat treat furnace by an overhead crane.

  1. The system below is a very large upender with a 25,000 lb capacity. It operated similarly to the #4 system above but with a stripper car. Wire coils were loaded onto the car and the car moved the coils onto the carrier which then upended and the carrier lifted off with an overhead crane. The process was reversed to unload the coils.

We have also built upenders for steel sheet coils and paper coils. Some included special surfaces to avoid damage to the product.

To quote we need to know what is being upended. Is it a coil? Of what? On a pallet? On a carrier? On a reel? What shape? Special care? Access for material handling devices?
