These are the newest 10,000 psi shears added to the Vale line. They are applicable, not only in Steel Mills, but also in Fastener Manufacturing Plants, and many other industries. The very light weight shears coupled with the batter-powered power source make them extremely portable and easy for even the smallest operator to use.

If you want to shear rod and have a cut end that is nearly flat or square we offer our Square Cut Shears and the detailed specifications are shown on this catalog page.

Many wire drawing plants have a need to straighten the end of the large coils of wire they buy from the Steel Mills so that the wire can be started into their drawing or cold heading machines. Because the rod from the Steel Mill can be of a very large diameter, these customers need a special hydraulic tool like the Vale Straighteners to be able to straighten the coil ends.

Also, we run into many applications where customers want to put bends into heavy diameter rod and we offer tools for this purpose as well.

These light weight, 10,000 psi Rod Straighteners are easier to use because the are easy to manipulate.

Accessories for Shears. The Hot Cut Extension Nipple Adapter is added to systems when the cuts are being made on very hot material and the worker needs to be able to stand back from the shear to avoid the excessive heat. Hoses and Electric Cord Sets are selected based on the location of the power unit in relation to the kork zone.

Tool Carts and Balancers are important parts of a shearing system. The tool carts make it possible to move the shearing system around a plant to use it where and when it is needed. The balancers are used to counter-act the weight of the shears to make it easy for the operator to manipulate the shear while cutting. By using a balancer, the shear is in a state of perfect equilibrium or weightlessness so that any operator can lift or lower the shear effortlessly with a single hand.

This special class of tool carts was added specifically for the non-ferrous customers who need to be able to get the shearing system to the point of trouble quickly and with ease. Their plants often have expanded metal decks on which the cart must roll and in times of emergency, when the shears are needed, the floors can become littered with cut material.

Steel Mills and Steel Wire Drawing Companies need to be able to band their coils of wire so they don't flop all around when handling them. Before they band them they should compact the coil so that when banded the coil will be rigid and as compact as possible for storage and shipping. Also, if the wire is to be annealed in an oven, a company that is compacting their coils before banding will be able to fit up to 30% more in their annealing ovens so they will be able to anneal 30% more product at the same price.

This page gives the detailed specifications of the 6 models of Vale Upset Testers. Upset Testers are used to quickly check the formability of rod on the floor of the Steel Mill. Please refer to the Computer Program on the Vale Demo Download page for more details and information.

Catalog Page 210:

Steel Mills producing sheet steel must make periodic quality control tests. One of these tests is to test the tensile strength of the steel and for this purpose they need a sample of their material in the shape of a "dogbone".

Vale makes these special presses to produce this sample piece and the Quality Control Manager of the Sheet Mill will be interested in this product.

Catalog page 220:

Up/Down Enders are used primarily by the Secondary wire processors to manipulate the very large coils of wire with which they work. In operations such as Pickeling Plants where they must move these coils around, into and out of various processes they need a method of tipping them over without damaging the wire. These systems can be provided in a variety of configurations, even to the extent that they can then be used as pay-off units revolving while the wire is un-coiled. All these units are custom designed to meet the customers exact requirements.
