WEISSER On-Line Catalog
WEISSER has created an on-line version of their catalog at www.weisser.de.
(Please note that the web address ends with .de instead of .com!)
The following information may help you to use the on-line catalog.
TIPS FOR USING THE WEISSER WEB SITE
The web site is at www.weisser.de
and the first page has a "flash" animated graphic that runs
every time you go there. After it runs there is a spot to click for the
"English Version" of the site. It the animation doesn't run
properly, you should still be able to click on the British flag near the
bottom of the screen. If all else fails, you go to http://www.sdzecom.de/publish/w2000/english/unternehmen.asp
which gets you to the first screen of the English version of the site. The
only problem with just using this link is that it isn't as easy to
remember as www.weisser.de. (Note that
it ends with .de not .com - this is the designation for sites in Germany.)
Once you are into the English version of the web site, the screen is
sectioned into 4 areas. We have tried to create a "graphic" of
the layout below. It is basically a main menu and a sub menu on the right
and a top and bottom area on the left that displays the actual
information.
| Top Data Area
|
Main Menu
|
| Bottom Data Area
|
Sub Menu
|
The initial screen shows "Company" selected from the Main
menu and "About Us" selected from the Sub Menu.
If you want to "browse" the catalog pages - select
"Products" from the main menu.
There will be a message in the 'Top Data Area' about the special
graphics format that they are using to display drawings from the catalog
pages. If you want to view the graphics within the web page, there is a
"plug in" program for your browser that you need to download and
install. (PLEASE NOTE - you do not HAVE to have the plug-in to use the
on-line catalog, it is just a little more convenient.) To install the plug
in, click on the "...more" link which will take you to a
"download" page with a little more information about the
plug-in. Select which version of the plug-in to install (if this looks
like gibberish to you, try and find your local computer guru to help.)
Usually there is a pop-up box which asks you if you want to install it
from this location or save it to disk. It usually is fine to just install
it. An installation program will run which may pop-up a couple boxes with
questions - it is usually fine to select OK or Continue and just move on
through the installation.
The sub menu will have a list of categories such as Bobbins, Boxes,
Terminals, etc. When you click on a category, you will get a pictures of
the various types in the 'Top Data Area'. If you click on one of the
pictures, you will see a table in the 'Bottom Data Area' with a list of
the various items of that type. Each row of the table will have 2 spots
that you can click (usually underlined in blue). If you click on the
"Artikel No.", The detailed information about that item will
appear in the 'Top Data Area' - this is where the plug-in is required to
see the graphics. If you click on the "Page" number, a PDF
version of the catalog page will appear. (Most people on the internet can
view PDF files using Acrobat Reader which is usually pre-installed on
computers. If you are not able to view the PDF files, then the Acrobat
Reader software is missing. This can be downloaded from www.adobe.com
if needed.)
The PDF Acrobat catalog page is the same as the printed catalog and can
be printed on your printer. It is a little more complicated to print the
information when you have clicked on the "Artikel No" since it
is split across the different parts of the screen. From your browser menu
select File-Print and from the Print pop-up box look for the option to
print "all frames individually."
If you know the Artikel No or Wz (mold) number of the item you are
looking for. Try using the Search selection from the main menu. This will
put a form in the 'Top Data Area' where you can type in the information
that you know. Then click on the FIND button and a list of the items that
match what you entered will appear in the 'Bottom Data Area' |
