West Chicago Garden Club

Welcome to the home page for the West Chicago Garden Club. Our Garden Club was originally founded in 1925 and was active for over 50 years... after lying dormant for a while, we started blooming again in 1998!

Any who are interested in our club are welcome to come to our meetings to "check us out".  Please send us an email for more information at pdarrah@sprynet.com.

PLANT SALE - Saturday May 17th!

Download Flyer (English), Flyer (Spanish)

Gardening is fun and sharing information and plants with other gardeners is more fun.  The West Chicago Garden Club plant sale will be a fun place to be on Saturday, May 17th.

The Plant Sale runs from 9:00AM until 2:00PM in conjunction with the West Chicago Blooming Fest which includes many vendors and crafters as-well-as a 5K run/walk and 2K Family Fun Run sponsored by We Grow Dreams. Look for our tent on Galena Street in downtown West Chicago.

This is a special year for the plant sale as it is the 10th anniversary of the event and hundreds of member plants have been dug, potted and prepared for this sale.  When you buy a member’s plant you know you are getting a mature flowering perennial that is well suited to our local environment.

As an extra bonus there will be a good assortment of hard-to-find “naturals” like ferns, may- apples, wild ginger and even trillium available.  Come to the sale early for the best selection and then spend some quality time experiencing Blooming Fest.

Gardeners who want to discuss special needs are welcome to chat with members of West Chicago Garden Club and our on-site arborist.  West Chicago Garden Club has a wide variation of members; men and women, old and young, master gardeners and beginners.  Come join the fun on Saturday.

Do you live in or near West Chicago?  Do you enjoy gardening?

Why not join us?

Our meetings are informal and we use them as an opportunity to share our gardening knowledge. We have guest speakers, a monthly newsletter, occasional field trips, and enroll our members in the Garden Clubs of Illinois so that they can find out about gardening related opportunities that are available throughout the region. Our volunteers are involved in restoring the Kruse House garden. Every third year, we host a Garden Walk - our next one will be in 2009.  Membership is open to men and women. All of our meetings are held in the evening. No expertise is required. (Our members range from beginners to master gardeners...) More information on Membership is available on the Who we are page.
